Impala recently donated 100 first aid kits to Zambia’s traffic police as part of the company’s on-going commitment to working with and improving local services. The company will also fund first aid training for police officers working within the Copperbelt region to ensure that the donated first aid kits are used to the greatest effect.

The official handover took place at Impala’s warehouse in Ndola. It was attended by Copperbelt Provincial Minister Mwenya Musenge, the acting police commissioner for the Copperbelt region, along with government officials and customers.

As a company which relies on Zambia’s road network to transport its cargoes that support copper producers in Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo, Impala is acutely aware of the dangers facing the nation’s drivers. Speaking at the event, Impala’s CEO Nicolas Konialidis said: “We’re saddened by the high rate of road traffic accidents. We understand that some of these deaths may have been prevented had individuals received basic first aid at the accident scene. Impala is committed to improving the standards of safety within our organisation and is proud to provide the Zambia traffic police with first aid kits to help with safety of Zambia’s road network.”
